Every employee has a responsibility to promote and enhance mental wellbeing in the workplace and demonstrate care and consideration towards one other.
In particular, the directors are responsible for:
- Ensuring open and clear communication regarding business decisions, particularly in the event of organisational change
- Being inclusive and collaborative and involving staff in decisions where possible
- Carrying out one to one catch ups with their direct reports
- Addressing mental health concerns with their direct reports
- Assisting and supporting employees who are known to have mental health difficulties or be experiencing something that might impact their mental wellbeing
- Monitoring the workload of those reporting into them to ensure it is achievable
- Encouraging staff to take their full entitlement to annual leave
- Offering flexibility where possible
- Ensuring employees take regular screen breaks from electronic devices
- Providing meaningful and relevant development opportunities
- Providing the appropriate level of support, training and resources required for individuals to complete their duties
- Actively seeking and acting on feedback received
