Communication and Contact
You will be provided with the equipment needed to be able to work effectively. Remote workers must be contactable in the same way as in the office.
Arrangements should be made for effective communication to be maintained between you, the director(s) and other colleagues. It is essential for regular team meetings to be held to develop and maintain relationships. Communication and support channels must also be made available. Working flexibly often means moving away from face-to-face group meetings and utilising different tools to communicate. Personal 121 time can still be achieved; it could just need a little more planning! Chats over the desk can be replaced with check in calls via phone or Teams. Team meetings will be a mix of teammates in the same place and others working remotely. Making sure everyone is included and can work together is important and colleagues working in different locations can feel isolated, excluded or that they do not have overview of what is happening in the team or with work.
Electronic diaries are to be always used and they must be open for colleagues to view. Colleagues must ensure that their contact details are up to date and available at all times.
Any colleague undertaking customer visits or attending meetings must follow the same “lone working principles” that they would if leaving from the office.
