Every employee has a responsibility to promote and enhance mental wellbeing in the workplace and demonstrate care and consideration towards one other.  

In particular, the directors are responsible for:

  • Ensuring open and clear communication regarding business decisions, particularly in the event of organisational change
  • Being inclusive and collaborative and involving staff in decisions where possible
  • Carrying out one to one catch ups with their direct reports
  • Addressing mental health concerns with their direct reports 
  • Assisting and supporting employees who are known to have mental health difficulties or be experiencing something that might impact their mental wellbeing
  • Monitoring the workload of those reporting into them to ensure it is achievable
  • Encouraging staff to take their full entitlement to annual leave
  • Offering flexibility where possible
  • Ensuring employees take regular screen breaks from electronic devices 
  • Providing meaningful and relevant development opportunities
  • Providing the appropriate level of support, training and resources required for individuals to complete their duties
  • Actively seeking and acting on feedback received
