- We would generally expect that work-related activity considered ‘Business Use’ would be conducted under your work email address, whilst personal activity should be conducted under a personal email address.
- Personal social media should not be used during working time. Regular and excessive use of personal social media during working time may be seen as time wasting under our disciplinary policy and disciplinary action may be taken against you.
- You should not use your Company mobile for any personal social media related activity because of the possibility of mixing your accounts by accident. Again, you should not use your personal mobile for any work-related activity.
- If you are posting anything anywhere which is your own personal opinion please remember to use a disclaimer such as, ‘The views expressed on this site are my own and do not reflect the views of my employer’.
- You should always consider privacy settings and how this might impact upon general accessibility to the content you post. Always remain mindful that ‘open’ social media accounts will likely enable content to be viewed within the public arena and therefore you should not post any content which you may be uncomfortable with being viewed publicly. If your account links you back to the Company (e.g. lists us as your employer), then any posts or comments on posts you make could be linked back to the Company. If the post you are commenting on is public, regardless of your own personal privacy settings, your post is visible to a wider audience and could have an implication for both the Company and you.
- On exiting the business any contact lists made in the course of employment and, in particular, those which are stored on LinkedIn must be returned to us. You will delete all contacts made as a result of your duties on request and contacts cannot be used for the purpose of competing with us.
- Keep work and home as separate as possible with social media. Be mindful of what you post as comments about work on your personal social media pages could be misconstrued. Be aware that if your personal accounts link you to us as a Company, you may be indirectly making us liable for comments and opinions you may express on your own site.
Be aware that being part of online social groups outside of work with work colleagues e.g. WhatsApp group chats could have implications depending on the nature of the conversation and your position in the company. Information or comments could be shared which could be seen as inappropriate and or bullying and harassment.
