The social media world is constantly changing and it is not possible to list all sites or applications which are considered social media sites. For the purpose of the policy social media will be broadly defined as any application, website or online network used for interaction/communication purposes. By way of example, social networking applications may include, but are not limited to:
- ‘Microblogging’ applications, for example Twitter
- Collaborative spaces, such as Facebook, Linked-In, Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter
- Discussion forums often integrated into specialist professional community web sites e.g. CIPD/CIPS/CIM/ACCA/CIMA.
- Media streaming or sharing services, for example YouTube, Tik Tok, Vimeo
- Messaging apps for example Facebook Messenger, Snapchat and WhatsApp
- Web logs or blogs, for example WordPress and Squarespace
Facebook should only be used on the Company system before work, after work or during your lunch break. Excessive use, or use outside of these restrictions, on either a personal or company device, may lead to disciplinary action.
