Company Sick Pay
After successful completion of your probationary period, and providing that you have followed the correct sickness Notification Procedure, we will pay your full salary up to a maximum of 2.5 days in a rolling 6-month period during a calendar year, upon receipt of a completed self-certification PDF. To clarify, you can have 2.5 days paid sick leave for the following reasons between January and June and then another 2.5 days between July and December.
The following instances are covered within our company sick pay policy:
- Sickness or injury that means you can not work at your full capacity (self certify)
- Pre planned elective surgery where by it is medically required (please provide evidence)
- Having to care for a dependent who is sick whereby childcare is unavailable
Once your company sick pay has been exhausted within that 6 month period, you will then receive SSP for any further sickness related absence. A Fit Note must be produced after the 7th consecutive calendar day of sickness.
We will allow you to make up a maximum of 1 days absence, which would need to be worked over the 5 working days following your return. If you want to take this course, please email hr@onedegreenorth.digital with your intended plan following a chat with your line manager.
Company sick pay will be pro-rata for part-time employees.
In the event of you sustaining an injury caused by a third party, from whom you are entitled to recover damages in respect of the loss of your salary for the period of your absence from work to recover from such injury, we reserve the right to claim and recover any contractual sick pay paid to you during the period of such absence. Any sick pay made to you during this time will be by way of a loan and will be repayable by you to the firm on your receipt of such damages.
Entitlement to payment of SSP or contractual sick pay is subject to notification of absence and self-certification or subsequent production of a Fit Note as referred to above. One Degree North also reserves the right to amend the scheme at any time or not to pay benefit if it is believed the claim is not genuine.
Any sick pay made over and above SSP or Company Sick Pay will be entirely at the discretion of the Directors and will be for exceptionally extenuating circumstances. Should you begin a form of sickness absence, once grievance or disciplinary procedures already have commenced, you will only be entitled to receive SSP and the usual rules of SSP will apply. In the event that this situation occurs, we reserve the right to contact your GP or specialist to establish whether the procedures can continue in light of your illness.
